Visit to the Statehouse in Columbus

Yesterday, we went to Columbus for Ezekiel (10) to receive an award for an essay he had written. I have yet to see the actual essay, but I’m told it had to do with the theme “Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori”. More on the actual essay when we get hold of it from his teacher, Mrs. Peters.

We were welcomed by State Representative Peter Beck, who showed up wearing the classic prolife fetal feet lapel pin, on which I complimented him.

Rep. Beck was very hospitable to us, showing us around the Session Chambers and personally presenting Ezekiel with his certificate.

Afterwards, we had a tour of the statehouse and had a pleasant pizza lunch in Rep. Beck’s conference room.

There were some interesting things to see, including Abraham Lincoln in a toga and bow-tie:

Many thanks to Tammy Peters for giving Ezekiel this opportunity, and to Rep. Beck and his assistant Lindsey for making our visit a pleasant one.

  1. ZZ is just a year younger than you were when you won an essay contest too, I believe.
